Personal
I am married with two children.
​
I am currently Head of the Mathematics and Statistics Department at the University of Reading in the UK, and Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Education.
​
I trained and subsequently quaified as a secondary school mathematics teacher.
​
I have been a member of staff in the Department at Reading since 1984, having also worked as a research fellow for British Gas, RAE Bedford and AWE Aldermaston.
​
Apart from 'napping', my passions, in no particular order, are:
​
Cricket; sport in general;
teaching;
studying, creating, doing and writing mathematics
​
Looking forward to: retirement from being Head of Department and being able to concentrate on mathematics again!
